Evergreen High School Musical Receives Top Honors
Evergreen High School competed for the first time for the 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Awards, awarding excellence for High School Musical Theatre. Judges from all over the state attended a recent showing of Little Shop of Horrors and reviewed the production in comparison to the other schools that entered.
In all, Evergreen High School's production was in competition with more than 100 other musicals from across the state of Washington. Only a select few productions were nominated.
Evergreen's Production of Little Shop of Horrors received the following nominations/honors:
Outstanding Direction - Stephanie McCrea - Honorable Mention
Outstanding Music Direction - Michael Day - Honorable Mention
Outstanding Choreography - Stephanie McCrea - Honorable Mention
Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role - Tim Madden as Seymour - Honorable Mention
Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role - Charley Ault as Mr. Mushnik - Honorable Mention
Formal Nominee: Outstanding Lighting Design - Evergreen High School
Formal Nominee: Outstanding Orchestra - Steve Kuske
Formal Nominee: Outstanding Performance by a Chorus - Evergreen High School
Formal Nominee: Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Group - The Double Trio - Evergreen High School
Formal Nominee: Outstanding Achievement by a student in Technical Theatre: Chris Groom
The final awards will be handed out at a ceremony in Seattle in June and winners won't be notified until that night.
