Join Evergreen Public Schools for a Traditional Pow Wow
On Saturday, March 2, the American Indian Education Program (Title VII) will be hosting a traditional Pow Wow at Covington Middle School in Vancouver, Washington. There will be two (2) grand entries with the first at 1:00pm and the second at 6:00pm. Native American dancers will participate in the various dance styles to the beat of drum groups from throughout the Northwest. The public is invited to share in this Native American tradition.
Organizing this Pow Wow is the American Indian Education Program (Title VII) which is designed to help meet the needs of Native American and Alaska Native students in Evergreen, Vancouver, and Battle Ground school districts. This Pow Wow is an opportunity for these students to share their culture with the community.
The program’s parent committee will be preparing food items, such as fry bread, and Indian tacos. Sale of the items are part of their fundraising activities. Vendors from throughout the Northwest will also be selling Native American arts and crafts.
