EVERGREEN ADJUSTS CALENDAR, SCHOOL TIMES, WAIVES THREE MAKE-UP DAYS TO END SCHOOL YEAR ON JUNE 20TH (SEE LEGACY SCHOOL TIMES BELOW)
News Release from Evergreen Sch. Dist.

Evergreen Public Schools has made a series of calendar adjustments, including waiving three of eight snow days, to end the school year on June 20. To do this, while still meeting the state of Washington's school attendance requirements, the district is doing the following:
* There will be school on Friday, January 27 and Friday, February 17 (these were previously no school days for students);
* Beginning Monday, February 6, school will start five (5) minutes earlier and last seven (7) minutes longer, each day, until the end of the school year; and
* Adding June 16, 19 and 20 as school days (extending the previously scheduled end of the school year by three days).
To obtain the state waiver, Evergreen is adding 12 minutes more a day to meet the state requirement of an average of 1,027 hours of instruction for the school year, as well as holding school on two previously designated "no school days." This satisfies the prescribed waiver process that can be triggered once the Governor issues an Emergency Declaration (which he did for the snow event beginning January 10). The new last day of class (unless there are future inclement weather day cancellations), will be TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 2017. For high school seniors, graduation dates remain the same, and the last class day will be June 13.
"We appreciate the input and willingness of our School Board, labor unions, staff and parents to allow us to come up with this innovative solution to meet the educational needs of our students," said Evergreen Public Schools Superintendent John Deeder.
