Evergreen Public Schools unveils newest district-to-parent communication system

The safety of students and staff is paramount to Evergreen Public Schools. In the past few weeks, the district has dealt with inclement weather, bomb threats and school lock downs. In order to expedite information to parents, Evergreen Public Schools is now implementing a new form of district-to parent communication through a service called ConnectED.

ConnectED is a communication service which will allow Evergreen Public Schools to deliver important district and school information in a timely manner. The ConnectEd service also allows the district to reach parents immediately in the event of an emergency – such as a late start or school closure due to snow or ice.

The ConnectEd service automatically calls the primary phone number the district has on file for each student’s parent or guardian- as long as they have not indicated it is an unlisted number-and leaves a recorded message. Parents who have indicated their number is unlisted have the option of filling out a form which will still allow them to be notified regarding important time-sensitive school and district information.

“This is an important step for us to take in order to communicate with parents in the fastest, most efficient way about their child’s safety and school,” said Superintendent John Deeder. “Over the past few years we have put in place Edline services for parents to check their students grades, assignments and lunch accounts, Flash News alerts to allow them the convenience of a text or email as soon as press releases and school closures are announced and now we have ConnectED, which is the most expedient way of notifying parents in case of an emergency.”

All district families are automatically in the ConnectED system as long as they have updated phone information and no unlisted designation.

“Student safety is our priority,” said Deeder. “And one of the most important pieces of that is getting parents timely and relevant information as quickly as possible.”
