Evergreen selects new board member

Todd Yuzuriha was appointed to the Evergreen Public Schools board of directors on Tuesday, June 17th, emerging from four candidates interviewed by the board. He will be sworn in at the board meeting next Tuesday. The other three candidates were Susan Griffin, a retired California community college instructor; Dennis Koga, a current  Evergreen  school parent; and  Ruth Wilmoth, an engineering geologist and  school parent.

Yuzuriha, 48, will fill the board’s District 4 position and succeeds former member Schuyler Hoss, who resigned in April to become Gov. Chris Gregoire’s Southwest Washington regional representative. Hoss’ four-year term extended to 2011, but Yuzuriha would need to stand for election in 2009 for the last two years of the term. Yuzuriha is the retired vice president of engineering for Logitech, a Vancouver manufacturer of audio equipment for computers that was sold in 2001 for $125 million. He has had three children attend Evergreen schools. Two have graduated (one just last week) and the youngest is an elementary schooler. Last year he served as a mentor for the AP calculus program at Mountain View High School.
