Evergreen Public Schools and local emergency responders to hold a school safety exercise March 19 at Mountain View High School

Please be advised, on Wednesday, March 19, Evergreen Public Schools will hold a school safety exercise to practice the district’s response to a school based emergency.

The initial drill will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Public Schools’ Administrative Service Center and will involve the district’s top level administrators. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the drill will become a real-time scenario involving local emergency responders. The second half of the drill will take place at Mountain View High School. The high school day will end prior to the start of the drill; however, several Mountain View students will be on campus to participate in the scenario. The drill is expected to run until 3:30 p.m.

In addition to Evergreen Public Schools’ staff, the drill will also involve the Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Fire Department, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA), and the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT Team. All will have personnel and emergency vehicles at Mountain View High School during the drill.

To inform local residents and passing motorists of the drill, the City of Vancouver’s Public Works Department will place reader boards at S.E. Park Place Avenue and Seventh Street and at S.E. McGillvray and Blairmont Drive from Monday, March 17 through Wednesday, March 19.
