Union High School to host ribbon cutting ceremony

Vancouver, Wash. – Mayor Royce Pollard, Evergreen Public Schools Superintendent John Deeder and members of the Evergreen School Board will all be on hand Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. for an official ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate Union High School. Special guests will include alumni from the former Union High School, members of the naming committee, as well as future students.

Union is the newest addition to the district's three existing high schools, Mountain View, Heritage and Evergreen. The Union population will be comprised of students, staff and teachers from all three of the current high schools.

"The anticipation for this school year is tremendous," said Brian Grimsted, Union High School Principal. "It's always exciting for everyone when a new school opens and we believe that Union is going to be an outstanding addition to the portfolio of schools we have now, all of which have set a high standard for equipping our students to be world-competitive."

Union features four learning centers: Global Studies and Business, Science and Technology, Health and Fitness, and Visual and Performing Arts. Each will be housed in a separate building.

As is the case in all of the existing high schools, each classroom will feature smart technology and the campus will be wired for wireless internet access.

A reception will follow the ceremony and tours of the campus will be available.

Union High School is located at: 6201 NW Friberg-Strunk St., Camas.
