Evergreen Public School District

Some students may be eligible to waive requirements pertaining to the Certificate of Academic Achievement (CAA) and the Certificate of Individual Achievement (CIA).

TRANSFER STUDENTS

Only out-of-state and out-of country students who transfer into Washington schools during their junior or senior year are eligible to waive requirements.

What are the guidelines?
There are several guidelines for allowing a waiver.  One guideline, for example, permits a student to request a waiver and thereby meet the Washington State standards if the student met standards on both the mathematics and reading or English language arts assessments in another state.  See your school’s counselor for more information.

Only seniors are eligible to appeal a special, unavoidable circumstance.

What are the guidelines?
Seniors who have been unable to demonstrate their skills and knowledge on the High School WASL or another assessment because of special, unavoidable circumstances may be eligible to appeal to a High School Certificate Review Board.  Examples of appeal criteria include the death of a parent, guardian, sibling or grandparent, or the student having an unexpected and severe medical condition.
