EPS Celebrates Legendary Teachers

Evergreen Public Schools is participating in a growing tradition known as Legendary Teacher Day. Even though September 24th is the designated day, we're going to spend all year bringing you stories of Legendary Teachers. You can help by sending your stories and memories to

Patti McMaster - Legendary Teacher

My name is Lauren Visoria and I graduated from Evergreen High School in 2007. In May of 2015, I graduated from Willamette University with my Juris Doctorate, and more recently I just received the good news that I passed the Washington State Bar exam.

As I celebrate and prepare for the next chapter of my life, I know that I could not have accomplished these goals without the love and support of my friends and family. Ever since I was a student of Patti McMaster's in 2003, she has been one of my biggest supporters. As I look back, I can see now that McMaster's AP Government class was the very beginning of my interest in law and started me down the path to now becoming an attorney.

I think what makes McMaster such a memorable and outstanding teacher is her passion. Anyone who has ever been in a classroom with her can attest that she is passionate about teaching. Not to mention a huge government geek! ;) She also sincerely cares about her students and takes an interest in their goals and dreams. She stays in touch with students long after they have graduated from Evergreen. I know that she does this because she cares not only about her students while they are in her classroom, but genuinely cares about who her students become after they leave Evergreen. In her classroom, we learn to be civically engaged in our community and to contribute our knowledge and experience to the world around us.

McMaster has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my life and I feel incredibly blessed to have been in her classroom and to now have her as a teacher, friend, and confidant. I would not be where I am today without her continued love and support. I know she has had this same impact on students before me and will continue to have this impact on students in the future. I do not think I could ever thank her enough for everything she has done for me and our community.
