Current Washington State legislation allows high school students to attend their local community college or technical school and earn high
school credits and college credits at the same time. There is a $20 fee to take the Compass exam. Full time enrollment is 15 credits
between high school and Clark College. Students enrolled in Running Start must:
- Be at least a junior in high school
- Must sign a contract with their high school counselor and review all of the high school graduation requirements
- Must enroll in courses that are approved by the high school counselor so that graduation requirements are completed
in conjunction with any college course work that may lead to an Associates Degree. The student should also
maintain full-time enrollment so that the student’s graduation status is not jeopardized
- Be responsible for knowing the registration dates and deadline(s) for district and college course registration
- Be responsible for transportation, lab fees and books
- Full time Running Start students are expected to complete their Culminating Project through Clark College. Part time
students should see their high school Culminating Project Coordinator for specifics.
- Athletes must contact their high school Athletic Coordinator
