Power, Energy and Transportation
Do you enjoy learning about the science behind how cars, machines, and other powered devices operate? Do you enjoy working with your hands and conducting experiments? Or perhaps, you just like working with gas engines? If you answered yes, then this is the program for you. Power, Alternative Energy and Transportation offers a broad range of activities, skills and experiences within two strands - Small Engines and Alternative Energy.
Students who take small engines will learn about troubleshooting engine systems, reconditioning and servicing 2 and 4 stroke engines, and how to diagnose system failure. Students who take alternative energy classes will get hands-on experience with developing biodiesel fuel, engineering solutions to problems with processors and other equipment, as well as the chemistry behind how biodiesel is made (see the two videos at the right).
