SUMMER ACADEMY Grades 1-9
Evergreen Community Education will be offering students summer course opportunities in Math and English with a strong emphasis in study skills in both subject areas. Summer Academy is open to students who are entering into the 1st through 9th grades. These courses are designed to assist students in maintaining and/or improving skill levels in these subject areas.
Elementary students grades 1-5 will have the choice of taking one or both courses in Math or English.
Middle school students grades 6-8 and incoming 9th grade students will have a choice of taking 2-3 of the listed courses below.
Staff-to-student ratios:
1 to 15 for 1 - 5 Grades
1 to 20 for 6 - 6 Grades
This is not a one-on-one program. And letter grades are not given. You may ask the Academy Instructor for a written summary of the students participation in the class.

Elementary English and Math
A 3-week course offering in English and/or Math reviewing the skills necessary for child's incoming grade, including a subject and age appropriate study skills component. Academy instructors will use a variety of tools, techniques, fun activities, and curriculum to achieve goals.
These courses are not for advancement - review and skill building only.
Formative Language Arts (Grades 6-9 )
A 3-week course reviewing the reading and writing skill standards necessary to be successful in fall language arts courses. Academy instructors will use a variety of tools, techniques, activities, and curriculum.

Formative Math (Grades 6-9)
A 3-week course reviewing the math standards necessary to be successful in fall mathematics courses. Academy instructors will us a variety of tools, techniques, activities, and curriculum.

Study Skills (Grades 6-9)
Academy Instructors will introduce students to proven techniques that will help improve and/or maintain study and test-taking skills, time management and organization to help maximize learning.
Advance Math (Grades 6-9)
A 3- week comprehensive exploration of math standards that students will experience in the next grade level course, including a built-in study skills component to enhance learning targets.
This course is for students who will be taking advance mathematics in the fall.
Advance English (Grades 6-9)
A 3-week comprehensive exploration of language arts components for students to gain necessary skills in the advancement of writing and reading. Course will include a built-in study skills component with an emphasis of an AP approach to language composition.
This course is for students who will be taking an advance language arts course in the fall.

SECONDARY SUMMER SCHOOL At Union High School
For information about registering for summer school classes, call 360-604-4082. For information about courses and individual student needs, please contact your student’s teacher or counselor. Registration will be accepted until classes fill or begin. Register early for best results! Secondary Summer School is open to any high school student.
Students going into 10th– 12th GRADES and open to any high school student.

$133 (in-district students)
$160 (out–of-district students)
Refund Policy: To receive a refund, notify the Evergreen Community Education office, 360-604-4082, of your intent to withdraw no later than 4:30 pm on July 1. Thereafter, no refunds will be given. Refund requests received on June 28-30 will be prorated. A 10% processing fee will be deducted from all student-requested refunds.
Attendance Policy: Students may have up to three absences. Any attendance violations beyond three days will result in dismissal from class and forfeiture of tuition and credit. Three tardies in the same class will equal one absence from class. Excessive tardiness can add up to potential attendance violations.
