Riding a bicycle has long been one of the great joys of childhood, but in some places, a third to half of elementary school students don't know how to ride a bike. A program that is new to EPS this school year is trying to rectify that.
The Let's Go Bicycle Education Program went to eight EPS elementary schools this year to teach students how to ride and how to ride safely. Watch the video, recorded during the program's time at Ellsworth Elementary School, to learn more about this grant-funded program. The grant funding for this program comes courtesy of the Washington State Department of Transportation through the Climate Commitment Act and a partnership with the Cascade Bicycle Club. EPS plans on reapplying for the grant so that more schools can take part in the future.
