We help ensure that each Evergreen student thrives by fostering belonging, equity, and access. We focus on removing barriers, elevating student voice, and partnering with families so all students—especially those furthest from educational justice—are supported and successful.
We build staff capacity through training on culturally responsive teaching, Courageous Conversations, and anti-bias strategies. Restorative practices guide how we address bias and conflict, ensuring dignity, learning, and accountability. We also provide resources such as Heritage Month celebrations and Equity PD modules.
For families, we lead the Family Engagement Promise partnering with families and schools to build trust and shared responsibility. We partner statewide with the Washington Family Engagement Center, McKinney Vento programs, and language access services to expand access for all.
Student voice is amplified through Students Advocating for Equity (S.A.F.E.), the Student Advisory Council, and Student Board Representatives, ensuring student perspectives shape district decisions.
At EPS, we are committed to ensuring every family can communicate in the language they know best. Families now have access to interpretation, translation of vital documents, Instant Language Assistants (ILA) in every school, and two-way translation in ParentSquare—helping all families stay informed, welcomed, and included. Learn more about Language Access here.
Evergreen’s Anti-Bias Restorative Protocol helps students, staff, and families respond to harmful language or actions with clarity, support, and learning. By interrupting harm, providing guidance and reflection, and restoring relationships, we build a school culture grounded in belonging, accountability, and healing. Learn more about the Anti-Bias efforts here.
EPS launches tutoring and family workshops to support refugee students and families in partnership with Schools Out Washington. LCSNW and funding from the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement. Learn more here.
